I’m pretty proud of my photo essay. I think it expresses who I am as a person in a way and the color scheme fits me. I’m slowly improving in the way I take pictures, but I wouldn’t say I’m a talented photographer like my brother-in-law or some other talented photographer. But I’m getting there

Speaking of I.D.entity “Rose Colored Glasses”

One word. Painful.

I must say that doing this project was a painstaking, wonderful, time consuming and extraordinary experience. I think the figuring out what to write for my I.D.entity song took me the longest to finish. I’m not much of a writer so I had to write so many different verses that had different melodies that didn’t necessarily fit with one another. So I had to rewrite everything when I finally established a chorus with Art and Loris. If I had that done earlier on I think I would have a more detailed video in the long run. The process of doing my stop motion video was both the fun and stressful part of my project. I wanted to strive for perfection for my video so I watched so many different types of stop motion videos. I watched a video that used colored post-its. Another video used white board. There was also this really cool one that used photos within a photo. Compared to watch I watched I don’t think my video can compare and as for what’s next I don’t think stop motion will be at the top of my list.

What’s next is doing the next semester project, which I still don’t fully understand

EA Field Trip

Last Thursday I went on a trip to Electronic Arts for a career exploration field trip and the buildings they had there were impressive to say the least. On our tour we saw a personal gym for employees, arcade rooms, pool tables, a volleyball court, a Starbucks cafe and even a company gift shop. Yet surprisingly there was a lack of cubicle farms on our tour of EA and instead we mainly had a tour of their company history. On your way past the entrance and gift shop there was a motorcycle full of dents and scratches, our friendly tour guide explained that the motorcycle was used by an employee to test drive for a game they were working on. The test drive ended in a crash and the driver was mildly injured, the motorcycle was left as a reminder to have professionals do the driving.

I had a good time visiting EA and I’m sure that most people on the trip appreciated the discounts on games at the gift shop. I thought was interesting was that in every building you walk through there was at least some type of advertisement, such as game banners or commercials and what I thought was more interesting was the presentation they gave. The presentation was about the process of how they make their games starting from a concept to deciding if it is marketable to development to testing and finally advertising. I learned that it takes a lot of people with a variety of jobs to complete a game. If I ever do decide to go into the gaming business I now know that I have different options I can decide on that could possibly take me to a company like EA.

Today I watched the movie Ghost Town, which I had no intention of watching at first until my friend watched it with me. Surprising, I found it to be a very good movie. I was so immersed in it that I almost cried at some parts.

Whether it’s in books or movies, I have always had an appreciation for stories.You get a satisfying warm feeling once you’ve reached the end of a book or movie and that’s what makes stories so enjoyable for me

I’m thankful for the art of storytelling, especially on quiet weekends like today.

I am thankful for the chance to go the EA headquarters on today’s field trip. It was such an amazing experience and to see all the perks and creativity makes me wish I could work there. EA had there own personal basketball court and video games were practically everywhere, how cool is that? I am also thankful for the DSA teachers that gave me the opportunity to experience this.

Anyone else thankful that yesterday’s lockdown is OVER? I sure am! I am glad that no harm came to anyone and was ecstatic to leave school after waiting for two long hours for lockdown to be lifted. I am thankful for the people working for our school to be safe and especially the teachers at MD that actually care for us students.

This is cliched, but I’m thankful for my family and loved ones that have always been there for me. It’s really important to have a set of people to be there for you and my family does that, which is why I’m grateful for them. Even if we don’t get along at times, see eye to eye or see each other enough, life would be pretty lonely without them. Thank you for being in my life, Mom, Dad, Ate Jonah, Tita Cory and John.

Out of the many people I know and love, I am going to blog about how thankful I am for having my cute dog Sachi. After a long day, it’s nice to come home to someone who anxiously waits and yelps by the very sight of you. It makes you feel loved in a way.

On another note, Brown Bag is now going to be held either on the first Thursday or Friday of every month. Last weeks lecture had the topic of superstitions. You know, those mystic mumbo jumbo that made you believe that finding a penny face up is good luck or that black cats are bad luck. There is a belief that if you spilled salt, you are suppose to throw salt over your left shoulder so it can hit the face of the devil and drive away the demons that made you spill the salt in the first place. That’s right there’s a devil over you shoulder, but never throw the salt over your right shoulder. If you do, be prepared to be struck by lightning because some people believe that’s where God is. I also found out that fortune cookies were in not a mystical ancient Chinese recipe, but in fact originated in San Fransisco. So, if your fortune cookie every says that you will win the lottery, fact chance and don’t quit your day job. All in all, whether superstitions are real or not, it’s all in the perception of the person. If you believe in bad luck, then bad luck will come to you and if you don’t then it doesn’t apply to you. Remember superstitions come before the bad luck.
